Chief Minister Mohan Majhi declared that all Anganwadi centers will be merged into “Shishu Vatika” institutions, ensuring a seamless transition for children from pre-school to primary education. As part of this initiative, new schools will be constructed with an estimated budget of ₹6 crore each. The government also plans to establish model schools in every village to improve the quality of primary education across the state. One of the key projects includes the construction of the Godabarish Mishra Primary School over 5 acres of land, reflecting the government’s commitment to creating better learning infrastructure. The announcement was made during the state-level “Khadi Chhuan” (initiation into learning) ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan School campus in Bhubaneswar. During the event, the Chief Minister actively participated by holding children’s hands and guiding them in their first writing lessons, symbolically invoking “Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwara” as part of the traditional ritual. Emphasizing the importance of universal enrollment, the Chief Minister stressed achieving 100% student enrollment in schools. To support this goal, around 5 lakh invitation cards were distributed to encourage parents to enroll their children. Meanwhile, the School and Mass Education Minister has also shared an important update regarding textbook distribution. Following the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), new textbooks are being developed. So far, around 50% of students across districts have received their books, and the remaining 50% will be distributed soon during the summer vacation period. This initiative reflects the state government’s focused approach toward building a strong educational foundation and ensuring quality learning opportunities for every child in Odisha.
